Hunting In the land of the long White Cloud

Our bird season is split into two. We have a two-month season for Canadian geese and Paradise ducks in February & March. Then our main Game bird season starts on the 1st Saturday in May through end of July.

Canadian geese, Paradise ducks and Turkeys and are hunted in the South Canterbury Region as well as the Lake Tekapo area, high up against the Two Thumb Range in the Southern Alps. The lake is at an altitude of 707 m and covers 83 kmē. It is fed by the Godley and Cass Rivers, and from its southern end runs the Tekapo River which crosses the Mackenzie Basin and joins the Pukaki and Ohau Rivers. This is one of the most stunning areas of the South with high snow capped mountains surrounding the lake on 2 sides.

All our New Zealand based Bird shooting is done on the South Island in the picturesque countryside around the township of Waimate in South Canterbury area. Waimate nestles between Timaru and Oamaru, which is 160 km north of Dunedin and 208 km south of Christchurch. This location places us in the heart of our hunting area, reducing travel time for our early morning starts.

Crisp cold mornings and chilly New Zealand night are comfortably spent in cozy, comfortable farm stay accommodation with true country hospitality and hearty home cooked meals where you can relax and unwind after a long days hunting.
